Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,July 272016

A stationary front will stretch from the Mid-Atlantic to the central Rockies on Wednesday, while a cold front moves across the northern tier of the country.

A plume of moisture will move onshore from the Gulf of Mexico, and will focus over the southeastern quadrant of the country. This warm and moist air mass will collide with a stationary front extending over the Mid-Atlantic, the middle Mississippi Valley and the Plains, which will set the stage for widespread rain and thunderstorms. Locally heavy rain will affect the western and central Gulf Coast, as well as the lower Mississippi Valley. Stormy conditions will develop as far west as central Texas and as far east as Maryland. Most of the Northeast will stay clear of precipitation on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a cold frontal boundary will stretch west southwestward from southeast Canada to the northern high Plains. This frontal boundary will dip south southeastward, generating showers and thunderstorms across northwest New England, the upper Midwest, the northern Plains and parts of the central Plains.

Out west, monsoonal thunderstorms will pop up across the Four Corners. High pressure will keep most of the West Coast and the Great Basin warm and dry on Wednesday. Temperatures will spike 5 to 15 degrees above normal across several states.
