Germany: Showers to dampen May Day festivities

The upcoming May Day holiday will feature showers scattered throughout Germany along with plenty of clouds.
While the rain is not expected to be heavy or last for more than a few hours in any given location, it will be enough to impact outdoor activities going on across the country.
Despite considerable clouds and showers, the cold air that was felt across Germany early in the week will be replaced by more seasonable air for both Saturday and Sunday, making it more comfortable for outdoor activities when dry weather prevails.

Anyone with plans to be outdoors on Walpurgis night should be prepared for rain from Munich to Dresden and Berlin. Elsewhere, there can be a brief shower; however, much of the night will be free of rain. A jacket will be needed as low temperatures fall to 4-7 C (40-45 F).
While a shower is possible anytime on Saturday and Sunday in Berlin, the greatest threat is expected on Saturday night. Anyone deciding to visit the spring flower show at Spath-Arboretum or the Power to the children festival near Brandenburg Gate can expect mostly cloudy skies with nothing more than a brief shower on Sunday.
Temperatures on Saturday will climb to near 17 C (63 F) in Berlin with a low of 7 C (44 F) on Saturday night. Temperatures will be slightly lower on Sunday with a high near 16 C (60 F).

Sunday will start off largely dry for May Day activities from Stuttgart to Cologne and Hamburg; however, the threat for showers will increase from midday into the afternoon hours. These showers will generally last 30 minutes or less but could still impact outdoor plans.
High temperatures will range from 11 C (52 F) in Stuttgart to 13 C (55 F) in Hamburg and 14-15 C (57-59 F) around Cologne and Dusseldorf.
