Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,March 29,2016

A slow moving low pressure system will bring impacts to the Intermountain West on Tuesday, while a ridge of high pressure settles in over the eastern third of the country.

A robust area of low pressure will drift slowly eastward across the Intermountain West. This system will generate strong winds and moderate to heavy snow across the Great Basin, the northern Rockies and the central Rockies. Winter storm warnings are in place for northeast Nevada, western Utah, southern Idaho, Wyoming and parts of Montana. Winter storm watches are also in place for southeast Idaho, southeast Montana, eastern Wyoming and western South Dakota. Low elevation rain is also expected across parts of the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest and the lower Intermountain West. During the second half of the day, this system will eject across the central high Plains. This cold air system will collide with warm and humid air over the Plains, which will ignite showers and thunderstorms across a handful of states.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will usher a light mixture of rain and snow across Upstate New York and northern New England. A ridge of high pressure will settle in across the Midwest and the northern Mid-Atlantic. As a result, a dry weather pattern will prevail across most of the eastern states.
