A low pressure system will shift across the Midwest on Sunday, while a Pacific system affects the Northwest.
An area of low pressure will move in an eastward trajectory across the upper Mississippi Valley, the Great Lakes and northwest New England. A swath of moderate snow will develop in northern Minnesota, the upper Great Lakes and northern New England. Snowfall amounts will range between 4 to 7 inches in northern Minnesota, northern Michigan and northern Maine. Some areas will receive up to 9 inches of snow through Sunday. Just south of the snow showers, a mixture of rain, freezing rain and snow will impact the upper Mississippi Valley, the upper Midwest, northwest Pennsylvania, New York and northwest New England. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southwestward from the upper Mississippi Valley to the southern Plains. As this frontal system streaks eastward, it will generate scattered showers over eastern Texas, the lower Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley and the southern tier of the Midwest.
Meanwhile, a Pacific cold front will bring light to moderate rain and high elevation snow to the Pacific Northwest, northern California and the upper Intermountain West.
Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees above normal across a large portion of the Plains, the lower Intermountain West, the Great Basin and the Southwest. Parts of the northern high Plains could experience temperatures as high as 25 degrees above normal on Sunday.
