Chicago: Brief Break From Frigid Air to Linger Through Weekend

After widespread cold gripped the region, Chicago will see a brief break from subzero temperatures before enduring the unrelenting cold again next week.
The weekend will bring temperatures that settle near the mid-20s F and could even reach to the freezing mark at times.
Day temperatures will be accompanied by some sunshine, aiding the rising AccuWeather RealFeels®. However, nighttime lows will continue to hover in the single digits.

While no major precipitation is expected, brisk winds will swirl through the area throughout the weekend.
Temperatures will begin to fall back to the teens on Sunday as some strong wind gusts could reach close to the 25-mph mark.

As the workweek begins, single-digit daytime highs will persist. While skies will be sunny and clear, conditions will be bitterly cold for the greater Chicago area.
Temperatures could trend into the mid-20s towards midweek.
