A cold front will impact the northwestern corner of the country on Wednesday, while a nor’easter will develop over the Northeast.
A strong cold front will move over the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday. An abundance of moisture will accompany this system, bringing moderate to heavy rain to Washington, Oregon and northern California. Prolonged heavy rain could lead to flash flooding over western Washington, western Oregon and northwest California. This system will also usher rain across Idaho and northwest Montana during the afternoon and evening, while high elevation snow showers will occur across the Cascades and the northern Rockies. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions calm across the Great Basin and the Southwest.
Meanwhile, a weaker cold front will extend from the central Rockies to the upper Midwest. Showers will develop along this frontal boundary over the central and northern Plains, as well as the upper Midwest. High elevation snow showers will be possible over the central and southern Rockies. In addition, scattered showers and thunderstorms will linger over the southern Plains.
To the east, a low pressure system will slight northeastward over the northern Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday. As this system interacts with moisture from the Atlantic Ocean, moderate to heavy rain will develop across Mid-Atlantic, the eastern Ohio Valley, the eastern Great Lakes and New England. A cold front associated with this system will extend south southwestward, triggering isolated thunderstorms over southern Florida.
