A nor'easter moving up the Atlantic coast with drenching rain and gusty winds will affect the New York City area Thursday into Thursday evening and could affect play for the last game of the regular season for the Yankees.
The Thursday evening game is also the last home game of Derek Jeter's career. While the heaviest rain and strongest winds are forecast to shift to the north of the area by game time Thursday, there is still the potential for off and on rain and drizzle with a cool breeze throughout the evening.

Windswept rain and excess water on the roads can slow the commute. Rain, wind and low cloud ceilings can lead to delays at area airports.

Minor flooding at times of high tide can occur on Thursday from the New Jersey coast to the western end of Long Island Sound.
By the time, the storm departs on Friday and on through the weekend, the surrounding air mass will continue to modify. Dry air and clear skies will expand eastward from the Midwest.
The weather will be dandy for checking out the foliage in northern upstate New York and northern New England.
In the New York City area, highs in the lower 80s are in the offing for Saturday and Sunday with abundant sunshine.
