Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,September 28,2014

An area of low pressure will move across the Intermountain West on Sunday, while high pressure will build over the Northeast.

A strong low pressure system will continue to trek eastward over the Intermountain West on Sunday. This system will usher rain across parts of the Pacific Northwest, the Great Basin and the Rockies. A mixture of rain and snow will be possible over the high elevations of the northern Sierra Nevada, as well as the northern and central Rockies. Additionally, showers and thunderstorms will affect the Desert Southwest, focusing over Arizona and New Mexico. A ridge of high pressure will build over the eastern Pacific, keeping conditions mostly dry over the West Coast.

Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure will inch across the Gulf Coast. This system will influence an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico, which will fuel rain and thunderstorms across the Deep South, the Southeast and the southern Mid-Atlantic. Heavy rain will bring a risk of flash flooding to southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. To the north, scattered showers will be possible over parts of the upper Midwest. High pressure will keep conditions mostly clear across the central Plains, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England. Temperatures will range between the 80s over the Plains, while temperatures are forecast to range between the 70s and 80s across the Northeast.
