Spectators and some of the world's best golfers will also be battling showers during the Ryder Cup match-up this weekend.
Friday kicks off a traditional stand-off between teams from Europe and the United States going back to 1927. The now bi-annual competition, alternating between courses on either continent, takes some of the best golfers to Perthshire, Scotland, for 2014.
Showers and dark clouds were looming during practices on Thursday morning ahead of the official start of the cup.

Showers remain in the forecast for those teeing off Friday morning, but by the afternoon, Gleneagles will be dry. Saturday is expected to continue the dry weather; however, showers will be passing off to the north of the course for the first half of the weekend.

Sunday looks to be the wettest day of the tournament. A weak front moving through the region will bring some showers for the final round.
The few showers early on Friday and Sunday are not expected to be heavy, so should not cause enough rain to cause flooding for the area. However, it could be an added challenge for the golfers.
Wetter greens and fairways Sunday will cause drives to roll less, slowing the greens and make the ball stick where it lands. Spectators may want to bring an umbrella or jacket while dodging showers.

The wind is blowing so hard at the Ryder Cup that they are having to slow the greens down to keep balls from rolling. This will be fun!
