A low
pressure system will move across the southern Plains on Wednesday, while
a cold front will dip southward over the Great Lakes.
A strong area of low pressure will inch eastward over the southern Plains on Wednesday. As this system draws warm, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico, widespread rain and thunderstorms will develop across the central Rockies, the central and southern Plains, and the lower Mississippi Valley. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a threat of flash flooding to southeast Wyoming, Colorado, northeast New Mexico, southwest Kansas, Oklahoma, northern Texas, southwest Arkansas and northwest Louisiana.
Meanwhile, a cold front will dip southward over the upper Midwest and the eastern Great Lakes. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the upper Mississippi Valley, the Great Lakes, the Ohio Valley and parts of the Northeast. In addition, a cold front will extend across the Eastern Seaboard. Showers and thunderstorms will also trail this cold front and affect parts of the East Coast and the Southeast.
Out west, monsoonal moisture will continue to spread across the Intermountain West and the Great Basin. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop across a handful of states, which will bring a chance of flash flooding to valleys adjacent to sloped terrain. High pressure will keep conditions clear across the West Coast on Wednesday.
