A mudslide in the Indian village of Ambegaon killed at least 17 people on Wednesday, while many more may still be buried.
The remote town, in the Pune district of Maharashtra state, experienced very heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours which may have caused the slide.
Heavy rain has fallen across the region in recent days, including more than 300 mm (12 inches) in Mumbai since Sunday.
The remote village, located between Mumbai and Pune, has had at least 200 homes damaged or buried according to the Associated Press. The village is home to 704 people.

The AP also reports that while around 250 rescuers have reached the area, continued rains have hampered additional support from arriving on the scene.
Poor phone lines in the area have limited the amount of information reaching outside areas as to the extent of the damage and loss of life.
The town sits in the foothills of the Sahyadri Mountains where recent deforestation could also have played a role in increasing the likelihood of mudslides in the region.
Additional rain, heavy at times, through Thursday will continue to hinder rescue efforts.
Heavy rain is common across the region during the monsoon, which occurs yearly from June through September.
