A storm originating from the Gulf of Mexico will bring a dose of drenching rain, minor flooding and travel delays to the mid-Atlantic and southern New England into Sunday night.
The storm delivered a general 1 to 2 inches of rain on the South Saturday and Saturday night. However, a few locations picked up 3 inches of rain. The majority of the rain fell in 12 hours.
Those taking to the roadways should expect poor visibility from the heavy rain and be wary of water collecting on portions of the highway that drain poorly. Downpours, fog and low cloud ceilings can lead to flight delays.
During Sunday afternoon, inbound flights to Philadelphia, Newark, N.J. and JFK airports were being delayed at their origin due to low clouds in the vicinity.
The rain will be heavy enough to cause flash, urban and small stream flooding. However, fast movement of the storm system will prevent widespread and major flooding of larger streams and rivers. A general 1 to 2 inches, with locally 3 inches of rain is forecast and should be handled with few problems on the major rivers.

Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C., can expect travel conditions to improve by the afternoon.

Over parts of the Florida Peninsula, thunderstorms will also affect some locations with locally gusty winds and blinding downpours.
Rain and thunderstorms will push southeastward across the Florida Peninsula later Sunday, while clearing sweeps from west to east across the interior South.
Farther north along I-95 while rain comes to an end in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, rain will will be accompanied by a breeze at times around New York City, as the storm moves strengthens. The windswept rain will further reduce the visibility and add to misery to those attending NFL games.
The rain will pour down on southern New England Sunday evening from Hartford, Conn., and Providence, R.I., to Boston.
According to Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydnowski, the rain will change to wet snow before ending in portions of the central Appalachians.
"Along the I-81 corridor in northern Pennsylvania and upstate New York, from 1 to 3 inches of snow is likely with slushy travel in over the high ground," Pydnowski stated, "Wet snow can mix in over the ridges in parts of southwestern Pennsylvania, western Maryland and West Virginia."
For northern New England, the storm will bring heavy snowfall and widespread slippery winter driving conditions.

Right now this looks like a good snowstorm for the Boston area, and a minor storm for NYC (Probably 1-3 inch deal) but could change
