Only a
few areas of active weather developed in the country on Wednesday. The
main weather system was a slow moving front that stretched from the Mid
Atlantic through the Plains. This feature allowed some moisture to pool
along the boundary, producing periods of moderate to occasionally heavy
rain. Some thunderstorms were also noted in the Dakotas, while afternoon
thunderstorms did pop up in parts of the Northeast.
In the West, a weak storm continued through the Pacific Northwest and
provided only isolated areas of rain and thunderstorms in the area.
Additional scattered showers and thunderstorms were noted in the
Southwest and Rockies.
The Southeast and Southern Plains were mostly dry under a high pressure
system. No tropical development was noted in the tropical Atlantic
Ocean.
The Northeast rose into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast saw
temperatures in the 90s. The Southern Plains rose into the 90s and 100s,
while the Southwest saw similar temperatures. The Northwest rose into
the 70s and 80s.
