DC to NYC: Hidden Danger Tonight After Snow, Rain End

While the worst of the snowstorm will bear down on southern New England tonight, another danger lurks for the corridor from Washington, D.C., to New York City--icy spots.
Snow and rain will be gone or ending from the Washington, D.C., area to New York City and Long Island early tonight, but motorists and those traveling by foot should still use caution.
Slushy or wet spots (even where only plain rain fell) on untreated roads and sidewalks will turn icy tonight as temperatures drop below freezing.

Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia and Trenton are other cities where this danger lurks.
Such icy conditions will make driving or walking treacherous not only because tires and shoes can lose traction, but also since these spots may look wet, giving residents and visitors a false sense of security that roads and sidewalks are safe.

Blustery winds will drive in the subfreezing cold air tonight and keep howling through Sunday across the entire mid-Atlantic and New England.
AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures on Sunday will be held roughly 10 to 20 degrees below actual highs, which will already fall short of typical late-December highs.

Be sure to bundle up if you are planning to spend any part of Sunday outdoors. The winds could also become an issue for players at Sunday's NFL games in East Rutherford, N.J., and Foxborough, Mass.
Even colder air is set to grip the Northeast before the start of next weekend.
