Here's the US National Weather Summary for Tuesday,October 23,2012,as of 10:30PM,EDT/ 7:30PM,PDT,October 23,2012,from weatherunderground.com,enjoy:

Several areas of inclement weather struck the nation on Tuesday as heavy rain fell across the East and the West saw blizzard conditions in the mountains.

Precipitation in the East was driven by a stationary front that set up from around Milwaukee, WI through the East Coast near Boston. Along the front, light to moderate rain was widespread, while a few areas of heavy rain fell throughout southern New York and in Michigan. North and south of the frontal region, skies were generally clear, with temperatures to the south in the 70s and 80s while to the north, highs remained below 60 for the most part.

Rain also spread west into the Northern Plains, where a storm pushing across southern Canada drops some rain into the northern tier states. Cloud cover from this storm spread across much of the northern US and also helped trigger rain and snow showers in the northern Rockies.

In the West, rain and snow fell across the coastal states on Tuesday as a strong area of low pressure just to the west of Vancouver sat nearly stationary. Heavy rain bands moved ashore in the Northwest, and some heavy rain pushed as far south as central California in the early morning. The Sierra Nevada mountains also saw some heavy precipitation, with some locations seeing up to 27 inches of snow.
